The PADI Adventure Diver course is a stepping stone to the Advanced Open Water Diver course. It’s ideal for adding a range of skills and knowledge if you’re short on time, a Junior open water diver or just not ready to get beyond Open Water diver depths.
This is your chance to plan your path with your instructor, and can be tailored to suit your personal interests. Options available include:

Some Adventure Dive options may be more ideally suited to being completed on one of our trips. Completing the PADI Adventure Diver course with NHDC could open up some amazing opportunities.

Knowledge Development
As part of the PADI Adventure Diver Course, you’ll complete some Knowledge Development in your own time. This will be reviewed during a classroom session before your first dive in open water, or during surface intervals if time is not on your side.
The theory side can be completed at you own pace and with electronic and physical manuals to choose from, you can select the format that’s right for you.
Open Water Dives
Over the course of a day, you’ll complete three open water dives. These can be completed using Enriched Air NITROX instead of air, allowing for longer bottom times (if completing the Standard or Deluxe course options).
All three dives can be chosen from a wide selection of options, so the course can be tailored to suit your specific interests or ambitions.
On successful completion of the PADI Adventure Diver course, you’ll be able to explore even more sites with greater confidence.
We’ll provide everything you need. We pride ourselves on ensuring there are no hidden costs.
You’ll have the option of diving to greater depths, and with the chance to use Enriched Air NITROX during the Standard or Deluxe Course options, dive planning and ‘thinking like a diver’ will become ever more important.
For that reason, all of our PADI Adventure Diver course students are offered 10% discount on Suunto Dive Computers if completing the Deluxe Course.
Knowledge Development can be completed at your own pace but will be reviewed with the NHDC team at our Dive Centre before your first open water session.
Open Water dives are completed over a weekend. So you truly get to experience diving in different conditions or locations the dives will take place at Stoney Cove with courses arranged on a regular basis.
New Horizons aims to be flexible with arranging courses to suit your schedule so if the scheduled dates are not convenient please give us a call to discuss suitable alternatives.

Each of the Adventure dives completed during the PADI Adventure Diver course can be counted as the first dive of each corresponding PADI Specialty. For example, if you choose to complete the PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Adventure dive during the course, you will only need to complete one more training dive to have earned yourself the PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty Certification. Simple!
On all of our PADI Adventure Diver course options you will receive…
- Coaching and on-going support from an experienced, passionate and professional PADI Instructor
- Three open water dives, usually over 1 day, lasting a minimum of 90 minutes underwater.
- FREE rental of all required equipment (including, but not limited to: cylinders & Nitrox or air fills, BCD, regulators, dive computers, drysuit & undersuit, specialist equipment [e.g. compasses, delayed surface marker buoys])

- PADI Certification
Our dives are usually completed in UK water, therefore we recommend you use a drysuit and undersuit for greater comfort. If you have no previous drysuit experience, we will arrange a pool based orientation session for an additional £40 before your first dive so you are fully prepared and confident to jump in.
Please note, our course fees covers equipment rental, PADI Certification fees etc, but do not cover entry fees to open water dive sites. These vary according to location; please ask for further details.

All of the above, Enriched Air NTRIOX specialty, a 4th dive over the open water weekend using NITROX plus 10% discount on a Suunto Dive Computer of your choice.
Knowledge Development
Completed in your own time, this can be started at any time and completed at your own pace. Choose from using a physical manual or electronic versions compatible with desktops & laptops (eLearning) or tablet devices & smart phones (Touch).
Electronic versions can be issued via email whereas physical course manuals can be collected from the NHDC Dive Centre.
An initial £100 deposit will ensure course materials can be issued, allowing you to start as soon as you want!
What ever option you choose, the NHDC team will be on hand to help you through and answer any questions as you progress. We will then meet you before your first open water dive to review things and allow you to ask any questions you may have.

Standard Course
Complete the Adventure Diver course using the materials or your choice and standard schedule. Join us for an extended classroom session and complete the Enriched Air NITROX Specialty too, enabling you to extend your bottom time on the Adventure dives through using Enriched Air NITROX. You’ll also have the opportunity to complete an additional dive using nitrox.
Deluxe Course
Complete the Adventure Diver course using the materials or your choice and standard schedule. Join us for an extended classroom session and complete the Enriched Air NITROX Specialty, enabling you to extend your bottom time on the Adventure dives through using Enriched Air NITROX. You’ll also have the opportunity to complete an additional dive using nitrox. With these exceptional skills, you’ll need the equipment to help – you’ll gain 10% discount off any Suunto Dive Computer as you progress through the course.
Executive Option
Our standard schedules are designed to offer flexibility, however, if these aren’t convenient, or if you feel you’d benefit from the more personal touch, we can tailor our schedules to a more bespoke timetable.
This executive option allows a 1:1 program, giving you the chance to work with a member of the NHDC team to become a master of scuba diving.
Elite Option
Complete the Basic, Standard or Deluxe Course option then join us over the course of 12 months to complete the three corresponding specialties.
Each of the Adventure Dives completed during the PADI Adventure Diver course can be counted as the first dive of each corresponding PADI Specialty. For example, if you choose to complete the PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Adventure dive during the course, you will only need to complete one more training dive to have earned yourself the PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty Certification. Trip Options
If you have an interest in adventures a visit to an inland site can’t quite offer, you can join us on a trip and complete the dives there instead. Talk to the NHDC team for full details.

Further installment payments can be made with the final balance paid before the open water weekend (or trip if taking that option). Talk to us about installment payment options.
