Tobago

Option 1: Speyside Only

11/11/2018 – 18/11/2018

Option 2: Twin Site

11/11/2018 – 25/11/2018

Destination

With the benefit of both the Gulf Stream and Guyana currents offering a range in temperatures and an influx of nutrients, Tobago has gained a reputation for some of the best diving in the Caribbean, if not the world.

This small Caribbean island is home to spectacular reefs of soft and hard corals, with a range of marine life calling the island home. Divers joining us will experience some exceptional diving and the chance to encounter an array of species including barracudas, jacks, tunas, tarpons, different types of sharks, rays (including mantas) and turtles.

The Package: option 1; Speyside only

At the northern end of the Island lies Speyside, a small village that benefits from access to multiple spectacular dive sites, including the largest brain coral in the Caribbean. Other dive sites off this Atlantic coast include Japanese Garden, Runway, Black Jack Hole and Cathedral; all of which boast a rich, pristine underwater fauna which is hardly seen anywhere else in the Caribbean. The nearby wreck “Round Table,” a former tug boat at a depth of 30m, waits to be explored by adventurous divers. New Horizons starts the adventure here, spending 1 week in Speyside Inn, a lovely B&B offering relaxed accommodation with the dive centre on site.

This 1-week package offered by Regaldive includes 5 days diving (2 dives per day) with air, 12 lt cylinders and weights. Additional dives, including night dives, can be arranged locally.

Accommodation is at Speyside inn on a B&B basis, although the food on offer at the restaurant is highly recommended!  Backing on to a hill covered with indigenous tropical rainforest, the resort commands fabulous views over the bay towards the Island of Little Tobago and Goat Island, the former residence of Ian Fleming. The Hotel can help with day excursions and car hire, allowing non-divers to join in the fun and explore the delights of Tobago.

The Package: Option 2; Twin Site

For a lucky few, New Horizons is able to offer an additional week’s stay at the Southern end of Tobago, enjoying the offerings of the Caribbean Sea coastline.  After a week at Speyside, divers can go on to enjoy the offerings of the Caribbean coast. Benefitting from different currents and cooler water temperatures, the southern end of Tobago boasts reefs of hard and soft corals, colourful sponges and a thriving fish population make diving the Caribbean coast a rewarding experience, regardless of your level of experience. This coast also boasts Tobago’s finest wreck, the Maverick, a former car ferry that was intentionally sunk in 1997 and lies in 30m.

Travellers will stay at Speyside Inn for 1 week before transferring to the Southern end of the Island for a further 5 days of diving (2 dives per day), fun and relaxation. Once here, travellers will stay at Shepherd’s Inn for the second week, enjoying the calm and cosy comfort of this resort.

This 2-week package offered by Regaldive includes 10 days diving (2 dives per day) with air, 12 lt cylinders and weights. Additional dives, including night dives, can be arranged locally.

Option 2 Important note: space for divers is strictly limited to a maximum of 8 people at the dive centre at Shepherd’s Inn. Reservations for the Twin Site option will only be confirmed on receipt of deposit payment & booking forms. Space for non-divers is not limited.

Non-Divers

Non-divers are welcome to join us on this beautiful Caribbean Island. Guests will stay with New Horizon’s divers and will enjoy the amenities of the hotels and nearby beaches. Hotels can help with car rental and organisation of local excursions. The Tobago mountain range has the oldest protected rainforest in the Western Hemisphere and trips can be organised to appreciate its beauty and diversity.
