PADI Underwater Videographer Specialty

PADI Underwater Videographer Specialty

PADI Underwater Videographer Specialty

Capture the sights, sounds, and the motion of the underwater world as a videographer. During the PADI Underwater Videographer Specialty you’ll cover the fundamentals and record interesting, entertaining memories worth watching again and again.

You’ve seen it on TV – those amazing creatures swimming around you, the dolphins playing or the seals nibbling your fins. Want to be the one to make those films?

During the PADI Underwater Videography Specialty you’ll learn how to record the best clips and as well as how to edit your scuba diving stories to share with friends through ScubaEarth® and other social media.

Video is the best way to share the sights, sounds, motion and dynamics of the underwater world. You’ll be amazed just how quickly you’re able to create underwater videos that are interesting, entertaining and worth watching again and again.

Following some ‘self study’ you’ll complete at home, you’ll meet the NHDC team to review your theory before getting on with the fun bits!

You  will complete three dives in open water dives before reviewing your images and editing them together to make the most captivating film of your adventures.

Knowledge Development

As part of the PADI Underwater Videographer Specialty, you’ll complete some Knowledge Development in the comfort of your own home. This will be reviewed during a classroom session before your Open Water dives, when you’ll be able to put it into practice.

The theory side can be completed at you own pace and with electronic and physical manuals to choose from, you can select the format that’s right for you.

Open Water Dives

Over the course of three dives, usually completed over a single day, you’ll work on various aspects of videography. On successful completion, you’ll be recognised as the diver that’s recorded the spectacular and amazing world beneath the waves!

You’ll complete several elements of videography including:

  • The selection, maintenance, care and handling of underwater videography equipment
  • Safe diving practices while using underwater video equipment
  • Videography techniques including shot types, composition and sequencing
  • Producing an underwater movie, including developing a story line and editing, both in camera and post-production

We’ll provide everything you need. We pride ourselves on ensuring there are no hidden costs.

We will provide all the basic, as well as any specialised equipment for diving while perfecting your photography skills. Comfort is everything in scuba diving, therefore if you already have your own equipment, we’d encourage you to bring it along to keep you warm and comfortable while becoming an Underwater Videography mogul!

Knowledge Development can be completed at your own pace but will be reviewed with the NHDC team before your Open Water dives.
