Skills Practice

This is a fun-filled, practical lesson with no ‘formal’ theory work to be completed. Also known as ‘Confined Water’ sessions, you’ll practice and ultimately master the skills that will allow you to snorkel confidently and safely anywhere in the world.

You’ll meet you Instructor, who will help you select and fit equipment that’s right for you. You’ll get to grips with using it at the shallow end, before working your way to the deep end of the pool as your confidence grows. The pace is relaxed, with a focus in fun, allowing you to practice and ultimately master the snorkelling skills you’re interested in.

You will enjoy a minimum of 90 minutes in the pool, practising a range of skills including clearing a snorkel of water and duck diving to get a closer look at the underwater world. You may even get the chance to play a few games!

Our Skills Practice sessions will take place at local leisure centres on Saturday or Sunday afternoons. Lessons are arranged on a personalised basis, giving you greater freedom in when to join us.

Session Pre-Requisites

There aren’t very many pre-requisites; almost anyone can sign up to try snorkelling!

• Min Age: 6 years old
• Medically Fit: You need to be in reasonable health and complete a liability release form
• Ability: You will need to be comfortable in the water. No previous experience is required.

We’ll provide everything you need. We pride ourselves on ensuring there are no hidden costs.

Comfort is everything in snorkelling, just like in any other sport. We recommend you purchase your own fins, mask and snorkel to enhance your comfort from the very beginning of the adventure. These are included on the ‘Standard’ and ‘Deluxe’ lesson options at over 20% discount!

Masks are designed to fit a range of face shapes – one size does not fit all! For that reason, we do not offer discounts on specific models, rather the whole TUSA mask range available. Some models can even be fitted with prescription lenses, adding to the feeling of confidence and comfort in the underwater world.

Each pool session lasts up to 2.5 hours (with up to 90 minutes ‘in water’) and take place on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon at Macclesfield or Congleton Leisure Centres.

New Horizons aims to be flexible with arranging sessions to suit your schedule so thery are arranged on a bespoke scheduling basis. We can arrange a lesson to be conducted anytime we’re in the pool, subject to availability. Currently available dates coincide with our Pleasure Diving Pool Sessions.
