Farne Islands – Weekend

Hard Boat Diving, Seahouses, Northumberland

12th to 14th May 2017

The Farnes are a group of Islands situated off the Northumberland Coast famous for their colonies of birds and diver-friendly seals and situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty.  The waters are rich in sea life and wrecks and the natural shelter of the islands gives good protection for diving on different states of the tide. At this time of year nesting birds, including puffins, will go fishing so encounters of them diving in to join you are not unheard of!  For the non-diver, there are many places of interest – Northumbria’s fine castles of Bamburgh and Alnwick are nearby as is the Holy Isle of Lindisfarne.

This weekend trip involves travelling up to Seahouses, on the NE coast, on the Friday (evening) then diving on Saturday and Sunday. Diving will take place from “Glad Tidings”, a comfortable hard boat, which will go out for the 2 dives returning mid afternoon.  In between dives you will get the opportunity to look at the Farne Islands from the boat and spot birds whilst getting a closer look at the seals.

You will enjoy 2 days hard boat diving with 2 dives per dayTwo tanks will be required for the trip. A dive computer and delayed SMB with reel are mandatory for each diver. Equipment can be hired from New Horizons.  This is an ideal dive trip for Open Water divers and above looking to gain some UK diving experience.
