Dive Dry!

Want to stay warm and toasty on a dive? Want to expand your boundaries and dive more places, more often? Then dive dry! Through the PADI Drysuit Diver Specialty Course, you’ll find out about the various drysuit options available to you, giving you greater freedom to dive with comfort anywhere at any time.

Want to dive anywhere the mood takes you? Want to dive all year round? Then the PADI Drysuit Diver Specialty is just the course for you.

Through the Course manual, you’ll learn all about the various drysuits available, the materials they’re made of and how to modify your diving techniques when using one. You’ll also be introduced to the undersuits that keep you warm. With your instructor, you’ll determine which combination is right for your diving.

In the pool, you’ll practice how to put a drysuit on, take it off, look after it and as importantly, dive in a drysuit! You’ll have chance to practice some of the skills you’ll have already mastered as a qualified diver, as well as add a few more to your repertoire.

All that remains is for you to complete 2 open water dives, usually completed on a single day, to put it all into ‘real world’ practice.

You’re guaranteed to add to your diving skills through this fun and informative specialty, allowing you dive dry, anytime and anywhere in the world!

This course will also count towards the prestigious PADI Master Scuba Diver rating and the first dive of this Specialty course may count towards the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Certification.

Knowledge Development

As part of the PADI Drysuit Diver Specialty Course, you’ll complete a little Knowledge Development in the comfort of your own home. This will be reviewed with your instructor, before putting it into practice in the pool.

The theory side can be completed at you own pace and with electronic and physical manuals to choose from, you can select the format that’s right for you.

Skills Practice

Also known as ‘Confined Water’ sessions, you’ll practice and some of the skills you’ll have previously mastered during a pool-based orientation session. You’ll start to put into practicce the things you’ll have read about. Our Skills Practice sessions will take place at local leisure centres on Saturday or Sunday afternoons.

You will enjoy a minimum of 1.5 hours in the pool, practicing these skills plus adding a few new specialist skills, ready to progress to the Open Water dive site.

Open Water Dives

Over the course of a day, you’ll complete two open water dives. You’ll practice a range of skills, and find out how much fun it can be diving dry! On successful completion, you’ll be recognised worldwide as able to dive anywhere and at any time!

We’ll provide everything you need. We pride ourselves on ensuring there are no hidden costs.

Comfort is everything in Scuba Diving, just like in any other sport. If you intend to use these skills in cold (or at least cooler water) we recommend you purchase your own hood and gloves to keep you feeling even warmer.

With a range of drysuit styles available, there’s one thing you’ll benefit from straight away, and that’s a comfortable undersuit. Select from our range, specially selected for like-minded divers and outdoor sports enthusiasts.

We offer a minimum of 1.5 hours of ‘Skills Practice’ pool-based drysuit orientation before heading to the open water dive site for a day of fun and adventure.

Each pool session lasts up to 3 hours (with up to 2 hours ‘in water’) and take place on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon at Macclesfield or Congleton Leisure Centres.

Knowledge Development can be completed at your own pace but will be reviewed with the NHDC team before certification.

Open Water dives are completed over a day at the weekend, usually a Sunday, with one arranged each month.

New Horizons aims to be flexible with arranging courses to suit your schedule so if the scheduled dates are not convenient please give us a call to discuss suitable alternatives.
