CPR and first aid are key skills that are important to everyone, not just scuba divers. As an Emergency First Response Instructor, you’ll be able teach skills based on internationally recognised emergency care guidelines, and you can offer courses to anyone.
The great thing about EFR courses is they make learning easy by providing a comfortable environment to practice emergency care skills. Your role as an EFR Instructor is to be a coach that creates a positive learning environment.
Your students will finish their courses with you feeling confident with their new skills and ready to help someone in their time of need.
An EFR Instructor rating is required to become a PADI Instructor.

Standard Course: £379 (plus EFR instructor registration fee of £88.80)
Executive Option: additional £50 on the Standard Course fee.
Elite Option: We’ll come to you! For an additional £75* on the Standard Course fee we’ll complete the training at your own facilities.

Medically Fit: No medical statement required
Ability: Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care (CPR and First Aid) training within the past 24 months (or equivalent)

Knowledge & Skills Development
As part of the Emergency First Response Instructor course, you’ll complete some Knowledge Development using the EFR Instructor Manual and a course exam. This will be reviewed during a classroom session before your Skills Development session, putting the theory into practice during a series of scenarios and workshops.
Along with learning how to create a positive learning environment and how to structure & organise EFR courses, you’ll practice:
- Presenting course content
- Encouraging self-discovery in students
- Evaluating student understanding and skill mastery during hands-on skills practice
- Managing effective scenario-based learning experiences
We’ll provide everything you need. We pride ourselves on ensuring there are no hidden costs.
Our course fees include the Emergency Response Instructor Manual plus a barrier pack and bandage set so you can get going with practising those all important first aid skills.
With so much to complete, the course takes place over two days, usually a weekend at the NHDC Classroom.
The pace is relaxed, allowing you the chance to master EFR skills, ask questions and enjoy a positive learning experience you’ll be the master of providing to your own students.

- Coaching and on-going support from an experienced, passionate and professional EFR Instructor

Knowledge & Skills Development
Completed in your own time, this can be started at any time and completed at your own pace. On booking your place, we’ll provide you with the Emergency First Response Instructor manual, a barrier pack and bandage set so you can start reading and practising straight away.
An initial £100 deposit will ensure Emergency First Response Instructor manual can be issued, allowing you to start preparing as soon as you want!
The NHDC team will be on hand to help you through and answer any questions as you progress. We will then meet you for the Knwledge and Skills Development session to review things and allow you to ask any questions you may have.
You may be surprised with how much there is to cover. The pace is relaxed, giving you the chance to practice your skills, ask any questions and have fun while doing it all.
Standard Course
Complete the Emergency First Response Instructor course over a weekend at the NHDC classroom.
Executive Option
Our scheduling policy is designed to offer flexibility, while providing a positive learning experience with a group of like minded people. However, if you feel you’d benefit from the more personal touch, we can tailor our schedules to a more bespoke timetable.
This executive option allows a 1:1 program, giving you the chance to work with a member of the NHDC team to become a master Emergency First Response Instructor.
Elite Option
If you have access to your own facilities, we can come to you! We will work with you to make a truly tailor-made course schedule. Prpare using using the Emergency First Response Instructor manual then when you’re ready, we’ll complete the Knowledge & Skills Development at your own facilities.
Payment Plans
A single £100 deposit will allow us to issue the relevant Emergency First Response Instructor materials.
Further instalment payments can be made with the final balance paid before the Knowledge & Skills Development weekend (or final pool session if completing the Referral option). Talk to us about instalment payment options.
