Diving in temperate waters, such as the UK, is made warmer and more comfortable and your dive times are extended by wearing a drysuit. The PADI Drysuit specialty teaches you the correct techniques for drysuit diving, which are quite different from using a wetsuit, and ensures you make this transition safely. This course also introduces you to diving in British conditions and opens up the possibilities of exploring the great wrecks and marine life around our coasts.
This certification will allow you to rent drysuits and counts towards your Master Scuba Diver rating.
The PADI Drysuit specialty course is made up of three elements:
Knowledge Development: to enable you to understand the basic principles of drysuit diving. This is mainly completed by self study of the manual which we will provide you. Your PADI Instructor will ensure you have understood this during the practical elements of the course
Confined Water Session during which you will learn how to use a drysuit correctly in a comfortable pool in preparation for your open water dives.
Open Water dives: you will complete two open water dives (in a single day) with your PADI instructor. During these dives you will practice your skills such as buoyancy control and correct weighting, ascents and descents and correct responses to any problems such as suit floods.
Course Duration & Schedules
Having completed the self study from the course manual you will attend one pool based orientation session, usually at Macclesfield Leisure Centre, on a Saturday or Sunday evening.
