St Abbs, Bass Rock

Hard Boat Diving

22nd to 24th September 2017

Places Available

Eyemouth is a town in Berwickshire on the east coast just over the Scottish border—St Abbs is a small fish-ing village north of Eyemouth. The local coastline is unspoilt with a great wealth of animal, bird and plant life. The sea is clear with a rich variety of animals and plants of Arctic and Atlantic origins. The generally good water clarity and spectacular underwater scenery contribute to some of the best diving in Britain and the local inshore waters have been a voluntary marine reserve since 1984, a benefit to all.

Bass Rock lies 2km offshore NE of North Berwick. It is famous for a population of 150,000 gannets above water and playful seals underwater. It is now accessible on a day trip out of Eyemouth.

Diving will take place from a hard boat which goes out of Eyemouth, very close to your accommodation, your equipment and cylinders will be transported for you to the boat. On Saturday you will make the trip to Bass Rock (weather permitting) and complete a total of 3 dives on this whole day trip. On Sunday morning two dives will be made around the St Abbs area. This area can be exposed to bad weather and sometimes the diving has to be cancelled and if we can not get to Bass Rock on Saturday 3 dives will be made in the St Abbs area if possible. Excellent walks can also be enjoyed in this area.

You will need 2 tanks for the trip (the third tank for the Saturday trip is included). A dive computer, SMB and reel are mandatory for each diver. Equipment can be hired from New Horizons.

This is an ideal dive trip for Advanced Open Water divers and above with some UK diving experience.

Accommodation: To assist our divers this package now includes 2 nights accommodation at The Home Arms in Eyemouth.
